Our big news

In my last post I eluded to some big news.  In February Teddy and I found out that I was pregnant!!!  Teddy was out of town all week, and I had been feeling weird.  Not sick or anything, I was just feeling weird.  I was still a week away from being able to take the at home test, plus I wanted to wait until Teddy got home.  So, he was home for about five minutes before I blurted out, "I think I'm pregnant."  It was still a couple of days before I was supposed to take the test, so we agreed to wait until it was time to take the test.

We headed out to the grocery store, and yea, I couldn't wait, so I bought a test, brought it home and took it immediately.  Teddy was leaving town again on Monday, and I couldn't wait a whole week for him to come home, so I figured, better early and with him, than without him.  So, I took the test, we waited the 2 - 3 minutes and I had the following results.

We couldn't believe it!  We were hugging and crying, and just overly excited.  We both agreed to keep it to ourselves until we at least saw the doctor and got confirmation that all is good.  My original plan was to wait until I was 12 weeks to tell anyone.  But that didn't exactly happen.

A few days after the positive at home test, I went in for a blood test at the doctor.  That came back positive as well, with normal results, so they scheduled our first ultra sound.

At the ultrasound I was 7 weeks along.  Teddy was able to go with me, and we saw our baby.

Here it is at 7 weeks.  I thought it looked more like a frog than a baby, but we saw the heart beating, and everything looked normal.  It was at this point that Teddy and I decided we needed to spill the beans to the family.  I was having a hard time not telling my mom, and plus I was leaving for China in a week, and wanted to let work know before I left.

So, we were able to tell my parents and Teddy's parents in person, which was a ton of fun.  Both were super surprised and just as excited as us.  We then told the sisters, who were all really excited, and somehow, kept the news off facebook until I was able to tell work.

Just last week we went for our 12 week ultra sound.  We were excited to hear the good news that all appeared normal and healthy with the baby.  So far, so good!  It was also exciting to see that the baby, was actually looking a lot more like a baby!  We saw that it has two arms, two legs, we saw the heart beating, the umbilical cord, the brain, and we even had the baby stick its tongue out at us at one point!

So, that room that I posted about earlier this week, that's going to be the nursery.  We just need to find out if we're having a baby boy or a baby girl to finish it up.  There's still about 8 weeks to go until we find out that news.  We are just so blessed and can't believe our good fortune.

The last three months...

I have been just a horrible blogger.  Nothing of substance has been posted for months!  So, here is an update of some of the things Teddy and I have been up to since January.

We hosted a super bowl party with the family, even though we had to bear watching the Packers win.

We're all focused on watching the game

Sara made a delicious sandwich for all

Then late February we celebrated my nephew, Carson's 1st and golden birthday.  He was one on  March 1st.

Doesn't he look good in that hat

His sister was pretty excited to celebrate too

Later in March, we celebrated Erica's birthday

She's looking like she's ready to party.

Since I was busy working every Saturday, Teddy decided that he wanted to do some work on our guest bedroom.  One of the walls was covered in cork board.  He worked hard to remove it to reveal this mess.

Yes, that is one hideously green wall covered in stinky glue that was holding the cork on

He worked for at least 2 weekends in a row scraping all that glue off, and then spackling up the wall that was damaged.  Even Fozzie stopped by to check out his hard work.

Then he gave it a nice coat of primer, which surprisingly covered up that awful color.

After finishing that project, Teddy got the bug to replace the doors and trim in the room, similar to what we did to the bathroom between Christmas and New Years

Here are the closet doors nearly done, they just need the trim casing around them.

He also did all the baseboard and the main entrance to the bedroom.  What are we going to use this room for now that it is nearly done?  More to come on that.

Then in April, I went to Beijing for a business trip.  I got there a couple days early so I was able to check out some of the sites before the meetings started.

We went to see the Forbidden City

Many of the buildings in the Forbidden City were repainted for the Olympics, this was one of them.  The colors were so vibrant

The next day we headed out to see the Great Wall

The wall was amazing, truly an engineering marvel that it was able to be built in the first place, let alone still be standing after all these years

We were able to see a small section of the wall, the whole wall is over 4,000 miles long, so it would be pretty impossible to see it all.

On our last siteseeing day we went for a long walk through Beijing to see the Temple of Heaven.  We got side tracked going through this park that had some beautiful cherry blossom trees blooming.

We finally made it to the Temple, which was really beautiful and worth the long trek there

Beijing was an amazing trip.  I wish I had taken more pictures, but unfortunately the camera died in the middle of the trip.

So far 2011 has had a great start!  I still have some more news to share, but I'm going to save that for another blog.  Hopefully, I'll be blogging about that soon.

Yes, I am still alive

Wow, February 20th was my last post.  Oopsy!  I guess I fell of the blogging wagon.  I am still alive and well, just eyeball deep in my busy season at work.  12 - 14 hours in front of the computer 6 days a week isn't really condusive to wanting to run home and sit in front of the computer again.

I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and will hopefully have my life back in a few weeks.  Then I'll be able to update on the actual fun stuff that has been going on here on Ridgeview, because despite the insane work schedule, Teddy and I have squeezed in some fun.

More to come...

Catchin Up

I'm sitting here in front of the computer thinking through what Teddy and I have been up to so I can catch up on my blog.  And sadly, there really isn't much to say.  I guess when you're working 65 hour weeks, it doesn't leave much time for anything else.  With Teddy traveling most of the week and me at the office all day on Saturday it doesn't leave much time to do anything but scramble around and try to get all the errands run on Sunday.  Friday and Saturday nights consist of eating some dinner and collapsing on the couch for an hour before heading off to bed.  Sundays leave some time for doing some things.  Here's what our last few Sundays have been:
  • Spending the day shopping, returning wedding gifts we didn't get a chance to
  • Laundry, lots of laundry
  • Grocery shopping
  • Paying bills
  • We did have a great super bowl sunday in there hanging with my family and Teddy's parents.  My sister wrote a nice post about it here
  • And today the big plans are to go shopping for a new bed and then have dinner with my parents.
So, not too much has been happening.  I'm in a busy season funk and May can't come soon enough.

This week I'm...

Loving: That I found time to go shopping and was able to get two new pairs of shoes for $42 with all the sales and coupons I had.
Disliking: How behind I am on my blog.  Three weekends now with no updates from me.  I need to get caught up!
Craving: A massage.  I need to cash in my Kohler Spa gift card from Christmas.
Wanting: More hours in the day
Reading: Not much, but I did get a few minutes to look at this month's Food Network Magazine.  It's an Italian themed issue and I want to try to make every recipe in it!  I'm going to shoot for two this week.
Watching: The Grammy's.  I thought it was pretty good, although there are always weird combinations of artists together.  On another weird note, I thought the graphic for the Grammy's this year looked a lot like it said The Crammy's...am I alone in this?
Listening to: That F#*k You song that was on the Grammy's last night and is played on the radio constantly.  I can't get it out of my head!
Looking forward to: Celebrating valentine's day with my hubby tonight!
Hearing buzz about:  Two cars crashing into a freight train this morning because the gates weren't down.  It looked pretty bad.

This week I'm...

Loving: That I just got to spend a whole week with the hubby with no out of town trips...too bad its over
Disliking: How short the weekends are this time of year.  Working 10 hour Saturdays stinks, no matter how you slice it.
Craving: More sleep
Wanting: Some time to shop.  I really need some new clothes
Reading: Nothing really for fun right now
Watching: The super bowl, which was pretty tough to watch - being a Bears fan
Listening to:  My dog snoring
Looking forward to: Crossing things off the to do list
Hearing buzz about: Christina Aguilera butchering the National Anthem at the super bowl
